At the 20th Anniversary Meeting of the European Association for Osseointegration (EAO) in Copenhagen, Denmark, the one-year follow-up results of a randomized controlled trial of immediate function of NobelActive implants were presented in October 2012.2
This single-center study evaluated outcomes of immediately vs. conventionally restored single implants placed into fresh extraction sockets of 40 patients after bone augmentation in the maxillary esthetic zone.
The results showed 100% survival of all NobelActive implants at 12 months of follow-up. Furthermore, no significant differences between the immediately vs. conventionally restored implants were observed in any of the evaluated parameters: mean marginal bone loss, esthetic outcome index, papilla index, modified plaque and bleeding index, probing depth and patient satisfaction. These results confirm that immediately restored single implants in the maxillary esthetic zone are a reliable treatment.
